Discovering the region
The idea for a regional park arose more than 20 years ago as a result of efforts to protect undeveloped open spaces in the rapidly growing Rhine-Main conurbation against further urban sprawl. The area covered by the regional park has since expanded to twice its original size now that additional municipalities and districts have joined.
At a series of idea and design workshops between 2010 and 2014, attended by unit-design and international experts, a guiding concept was devised for the future development and strategic realignment of the regional park. One major aspect was the question of how it could be made possible for people in the region to see and experience existing and future projects and for these projects to be given a coherent identity. unit-design then drew up a strategy for corporate design, marketing and means of communication.
