Lufthansa terminal plans
Client Deutsche Lufthansa Year 2006 Index Contractor Deutsche Lufthansa, Frankfurt Project type Realisation unit Task Conception, design, planning, realisation unit Employee Heidrun Althen, Prof. Peter Eckart, Bernd Hilpert, Bruno Scheffler

A specialist in developing orientation systems, unit-design basically redesigned Lufthansa’s terminal plans for Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich airports. The terminal plans are a way for the airlines to offer their passengers a service so that they can find their way around the three international “Lufthansa hubs”. The plans are designed for use in the most diverse of media and accentuate Lufthansa’s service facilities.

As well as the analysis of the most important passenger movements at the airports concerned, we have conducted in-depth studies for optimised representation. It transpired in the process that the best perspective is one that shows no vertical distortion. Contrary to the usual line of vision seen from the arriving passengers, the opposite line of vision has proven to be much more understandable for the terminal plans.

Used in all flight plans and the Lufthansa Magazine, more than 3,000,000 printed copies of the terminal plans were distributed in 2006 alone. They can also be found in all screen and online publications and onboard all aircraft.
