A Frankfurt life story

To mark the 200th birthday of Struwwelpeter’s author, doctor Heinrich Hoffmann, the Historical Museum in Frankfurt am Main presented an exhibition entitled "Peter Struwwel – Heinrich Hoffmann / A Frankfurt Life Story". The exhibition took a fresh look at the life and work of Heinrich Hoffmann and provided some insight into Frankfurt society in the 19th century.

The basic concept for the exhibition design was built around layers of complexity and multi-faceted works.

The graphics for the exhibition underlined the idea of layering, by means of direct printing on wooden surfaces with varying degrees of transparency.

The elements of the display architecture were combined to form cabinets that created spaces of their own, each dedicated to a particular thematic aspect or stage of the author's life.
