Extreme zones
For the Federal Horticultural Show due to take place at the EGA-Park in Erfurt, Germany, in 2021, an architectural competition has been held for the central attraction: the DANAKIL KLIMAZONENWELT. Working in partnership on the project with Dietz Joppien Architekten, unit-design has drafted a design for the informative and interactive exhibition.
The task was to visualize, communicate and stage the transition between two extreme climate zones – rainforest and desert – and the associated effects of climate on living conditions and the evolution of flora and fauna.
unit-design has defined the visitor experience and composed designs for creating a dramatic experience and for conveying information. Key elements include the paths into the heights of the rainforest and the vast expanse of the desert.
unit-design was responsible for providing the illustrations for the competition.
